What sort of apocalyptic events are there? Well, there is The Apocalypse itself of course, but I don't think anyone survives that one! The world as we know it may end due to global nuclear war, or suffer from the release of a genetically engineered virus or maybe someone fries all our computers with electro magnetic pulses? A "natural"
disaster might befall us, like an asteroid colliding with Earth,
or maybe the supervolcano in the Yellowstone Park (USA) will explode,
filling the Earth's atmosphere with dust that blocks out the sun.
This is not science fiction - it really exists and is estimated
to explode every 600,000 years. When it goes off, It may do so with
1,000 times the force of Mount St. Helens. It last exploded 640,000
years ago ... and it is breathing. |
