Welcome!We decided the star rating on its own was not enough. We had to have our own Top 100 list, but didn't see any point in just listing all the 5-star movies, (although this selection is separately available on its own page). Instead we decided to have a list of the Science Fiction and Fantasy movies that Doctor SciFi thinks are absolutely essential viewing. This list may not agree with other people's lists and some of the movies on it won't necessarily even be 5 star movies. It is a list of those movies where Doctor SciFi says, "You don't really know science fiction/fantasy if you haven't seen ..." These movies are marked "Top 100". (Of course, when we say "100", we don't necessarily mean "decimal 100", so our list probably won't appear to you to be precisely 100 movies ...) If you have any questions on the list or any of those Science Fiction and Fantasy movies, old or new, then don't hesitate to ask Doctor SciFi. |

These are rated according to a standard 5 star system, but with one extra addition:- There are some movies that are simply essential viewing if you are an SF&F fan, and they aren't all 5 star movies!
