Alien Nation

Alien Nation - Matthew Sikes (Gary Graham) and George Francisco (Eric Pierpoint)

The 'Newcomers' crash-landed on Earth and with no option to return, because they were on a slave ship. The Tenctonese thus had to find a way to integrate into human society (mainly in Los Angeles). While extended some hospitality by some, there are obviously going to be difficulties when quarter of a million aliens become part of your society.

They are not stupid people and are also stronger than humans. Being bred to be adaptable and capable of hard work, many do try to integrate properly. Of course, some humans will object and of course the aliens have their own problems they've brought along.

Detective Matthew Sikes (Gary Graham) is your typical TV cop - bit of a maverick, divorced, etc. He doesn't like the Newcomers. He is joined by Detective George Francisco (Eric Pierpoint), a Newcomer. He has joined the LAPD partly to try to keep injustice from harming his people. Unlike his partner, Francisco has a good family relationship.

The series derived from a 1988 film of the same name, which starred James Caan and Mandy Patinkin. The series began in 1989, but in typical fashion was cancelled before its time. With some interesting elements, some TV movies in the 90s have gone some way to redress the balance.

Other characters:

Susan Francisco (Michele Scarabelli)
Buck Francisco (Sean Six)
Emily Francisco (Lauren Woodland)
Cathy Frankel (Terri Treas)
Albert Einstein (Jeff Marcus)
Sergeant Dobbs (Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs)
Captain Brian Grazer (Ron Fassler)
