Star Trek Enterprise : Pilot Episode

"The final frontier has a new beginning."

We made the predictions on this page just as shooting on the first series was getting under way. Time has moved on, but we thought it would be amusing to leave the page here. In the actual episode, the emphasis was more on the Suliban than the Klingons, but it seems everything else was pretty much correct!

We anxiously anticipate the pilot episode of Star Trek Enterprise even though we aren't going to see it until Fall. The following should not be deemed as "facts", because even issued scripts are subject to change during filming.

The proposed name for the pilot episode is "Broken Bow". (Captain Archer - broken bow - get it ...)

Within the background we have outlined, the Enterprise is sitting in spacedock being refitted with new equipment. A Klingon is being chased by the Suliban and crashes into Earth. If he landed in the USA, then he probably gets shot by ignorant Humans!

So, the Humans think it would be a good idea to take the injured Klingon back home. The Vulcans let the Humans know that to the Klingons, this would be a disgrace for all concerned. But of course, the Humans are getting fed up with "Mummy and Daddy" Vulcan telling them what to do. So, Captain Archer is given his first mission, (probably by Admiral Forrest) , to take the Klingon home. We expect that this will be the "disastrous Klingon first contact" referred to by Doctor McCoy a century later.

Did you catch that about who was chasing the Klingon? The "Suliban". These are an alien race that we haven't come across in later Star Trek series', but will feature significantly in this series. The early leaks suggest that this species are going to be pretty nasty and are obsessed with genetic enhancement, (which gives the series something to say about our current world ...). The recurring character we expect to meet is one of the leaders of the Suliban and is called Silik.
