Star
Trek Enterprise is a Paramount Television production.
The fifth series in the Star Trek universe is set in the mid-22nd
century and stars Scott Bakula as Captain Jonathan Archer, (pictured
left). He leads an earlier Enterprise in pioneering exploration
of space.
ST:ENT explores the first steps of humanity's exploration of space,
making new friends and enemies and discovering all those things
that are taken for granted in "later" series.
The Human relationship with the Vulcans is becoming a little strained,
so Captain Archer doesn't like being assigned Vulcan First Officer
- Sub-Commander T'Pol (Jolene Blalock). However, he does get on
well with the alien ship's medical officer, Doctor Phlox, (John
Billingsley). Others on the regular cast are: Dominic Keating, Anthony
Montgomery, Connor Trinneer and Linda Park. [ See Cast
details for more information. ]
ST Enterprise series 2 brings more action, more exploration of
ST "future history", revelations about T'Pol, and meeting
the Romulans. Sorry, what was that last one? Yes, meeting the Romulans.
Without disrupting the ST timeline. Okay, well given the amount
of messing about with time they already introduced in series 1,
that probably won't be all that difficult although they don't want
to overplay the Temporal Cold War too much, so we'll see what they
do. Undoubtedly they will be starting to suggest a future that we
already know. One of the major events that we expect will eventually
happen is the birth of the Federation, so some hints at that will
likely start being dropped in series 2. Incidentally, do you know
when Vulcans first arrived on Earth. If you're thinking "First
Contact", you're wrong ... or are you? Yes you are... heh,
heh.
As with most of the Star Treks, there are some episodes that are
really quite good and others that ... well ... aren't. From the
occasional spark of some real Science Fiction being explored to
the occasionally terribly inane episode, the only thing to do is
watch them all. One thing that is obviously different that was only
just starting to be introduced in Voyager is ... sex. Acknowledgement
that people on a space ship actually might fancy each other at the
very least. And occasionally they are "out of uniform".
About time too!
